Hey guys.
Sorry this is so late. It kinda slipped my mind to be honest.
Next meeting is this coming Wednesday night at 7pm.
We obviously didn’t have a meeting last week due to Ash Wednesday. This weekend is the start of the parish Lenten Retreat at the church (Sunday, Monday, Tuesday). Hoping you all have the opportunity to attend that. It sounds like this speaker is amazing.
Then we have our Wednesday meeting and the following weekend is the Men of Integrity Conference in St. Albert for those who are able to go. Ill be there and I’m sure Dale will as well. I don’t believe he has missed many of those over the years. Here is the website to register if you want to go. I think they will also register you at the door but its harder for them to account for the food they serve if you don’t register ahead.

Ive been making my way through Matthew recently and I came across these verses that hit me in totally different but significant ways.
The Light of the Body.*
22“The lamp of the body is the eye. If your eye is sound, your whole body will be filled with light;
23but if your eye is bad, your whole body will be in darkness. And if the light in you is darkness, how great will the darkness be.l
This one made me really take a look at what i allow into my heart and soul as far as entertainment. How much poison can you drink before you die of poisoning i guess.
The other one was this one:
The Would-be Followers of Jesus.*
18h When Jesus saw a crowd around him, he gave orders to cross to the other side.*
19i A scribe approached and said to him, “Teacher,* I will follow you wherever you go.”
20Jesus answered him, “Foxes have dens and birds of the sky have nests, but the Son of Man* has nowhere to rest his head.”
21Another of [his] disciples said to him, “Lord, let me go first and bury my father.”
22* But Jesus answered him, “Follow me, and let the dead bury their dead.”
This one was hard to read, hard to accept, hard to understand. I still don’t actually. I get that He is saying that when He calls you then you better be ready to drop and run for Him. But the idea that you cannot complete or find closure in your life I find difficult to get on board with. There is a reference to the sister verse in Luke and it additionally says that He told the guy that if he wasnt able, then he wasnt worthy. Ouch. Thats big time. Let me know what you think of those two verses.
The Penetential Services will be on March 24 at St. Michael’s. Here are two Fr. Mike videos about confession and forgiveness of yourself.
and just because I think the underlying theology in this homily touches Easter, daily life, and even confession, here is one of the great homilies from Father Catfish Mike Mireau.
Have a great week. See you next Wednesday
Chris
