The Council Executive is an elected body with two appointed positions, that serves to vet and address the administration of the council activities and functions. The positions of Chaplain and Financial Secretary are appointed positions, but all the rest are elected annually prior to the end of the Columbian year, which is Sept – Aug. Each position plays a critical role in the operations of the council. The members who allow their names to run for election are a very appreciated group of guys each year. If you see one of them make sure to thank them for pitching in the extra time and effort to be part of the Council Executive.
PROGRAM DIRECTORS
There are 4 basic program categories that all of our charitable and vollunteer work fall under. Each program has an opening for a main director to help coordinate and communicate with the members who take charge of individual activities. These are all volluntary appointments and not elected positions.
The work they do is to coordinate with individual activity leaders and provide follow up reporting to the council. There are plenty of State and Supreme resources available for each Program Director to draw from and share with the activity leaders.
An example of what a Program Director for Community might do is to keep in touch with a member who is coordinating vollunteers for the Christmas hamper deliveries to determine if he needs help or could benefit from an email communication to members, while also keeping tabs on the member who coordinates the Widow’s Lawn Maintenance Program. That Director would provide any reporting, follow ups or updates to the Council General Meetings so that all members can be made aware of the progress or eventual conclusion of things the Council is involved in.
Those Program Director positions are:
- FAITH DIRECTOR
- FAMILY DIRECTOR
- COMMUNITY DIRECTOR
- LIFE DIRECTOR
MEMBERSHIP DIRECTOR
There is also a position for Membership Director. This volluntary appointed position would be responsible to find ways to promote membership recruitment in the council. Again there are State and Supreme resources available to draw from to assist this member, but membership recruitment isnt the sole responsibility of this director. He is meant to engage the current members to assist and find ways to promote enrollments. He would also play a role in keeping track of new candidates getting the right paperwork or online links to enroll, coordination of reception of the initiation degrees and ensuring new members are introduced, welcomed and encouraged to get invovled in any of the activities.
If you are a member, and have an interest in helping out with any of these programs, feel free to approach the council executive members and let them know of your interest.
